2008 Benchwarmer Championships

A brand new champion ahead in K Street as 2-time defending champ Atco is out this year.  South Philly returns for another go while three new teams enter the fray against them.

Ryan Conference: South Philly (84-66) vs. Altoona (93-57)

South Philly remains the only team to ever win the Blyleven Division and hope that the third time's the charm.  They had to fight off Kansas City this time to make it here.  However, they face Altoona, who beat them 10 times this season.  Altoona had their own troubles getting here - coming in with the league's best record, but only one game ahead of New Jersey.  In K Street's 4th year, this is the first time that Altoona (under new ownership) has not finished in last place.

Carlton Conference: Aksarben (84-66) vs. Bibi's (90-60)

The races in the Carlton weren't quite as tight.  Aksarben beat out Dawns by 5 games.  After moving up to 2nd place last season, they took their first division title in 2008.  Meanwhile, Bibi's, under new ownership in 2008, returned to the playoffs after a visit in 2006.

Aksarben Wins in 5 Games

BWB CHAMPIONSHIP : Aksarben vs. South Philly

Both teams have just won their first conference championships, so it's a shot for league title #1. In both cases, the wins were mild upsets, so it's wide open for the championship.  Aksarben has a minor shot at making the Benchwarmer Bash as a wild card, but South Philly's only chance is to win this series.
