Transaction Deadlines - 2014
And Weekly BWB Schedule
Dates are for roster changes and lineup changes.
Players signed in one week are not available for lineups until
the following week.
Players cut in one week may still be used in that week's lineups.
Traded players change teams the following week - just like
with signings and cuts.
All transactions due by
Noon Eastern Time on listed dates.
New leagues will fit into this schedule
after all phases of their drafts are complete.
Major League Games: These are the MLB games used for
collecting batters' stats for the fantasy games that week.
Signing Pct: The amount of the player's salary you need to
pay to sign him.
Cut Pct: The amount of salary rebate
you receive for cutting players (no rebates to players under
contract or with salaries 200 or lower).
Trade Pct: The
signing/cut percentages for players in trades (continues to
pro-rate all season).
Special 2014 Scheduling
Benchwarmer Baseball is still a 1-person operation and since
2000 I've tried as hard as possible to schedule my vacation time
around the MLB season including delaying major trips until
November and to maintain Internet access while on other
vacations. My current plans include a trip to Europe
(Greece) in the fall of 2014 and this will affect the completion
of the BWB schedule:
- I do not expect to take my computer along - I will not
be making updates while away. I think it's safe to say I
would no longer be in a relationship if I tried to do any
- Dates are not yet set, but my intention is to leave a
few days after the Week 25 transaction deadline, so that I
can process any Week 25 cuts and IR moves as you set your
playoff rosters. This will also get your rosters set before
the final week of the BWB regular season.
- We may get through all of the Week 24 games - then about
a 2-week break - then I'll pick up the last week of the
season and wind up around mid-October with playoffs to
follow. The 2014 Benchwarmer Bash will extend into
- Other than the break in between games and the wait for
you to see the completion of the season, this should have no
effect on game play - you'll still be setting your Week 25
lineups before the MLB games will be played. You'll
set your playoff lineups after the regular MLB season is
over, but that's no different than in typical years.
- If you're playing BWB in 2014, you are now forewarned of
this schedule and agree to the delay of the season

Dates to keep in mind:
Week Zero Transactions
- Monday, 3/31/14 -
Noon 7 PM EDT
All returning leagues - Teams cash
balances over 5 million will be cut down to that 5 million bucks
value after this week. (New leagues for 2014 are not
subject to this).
- All leagues get an extra 2 million in cash after this
week. (Teams over 5 million will be cut down to 5, then get
the additional cash). In a bit of a loophole, if you're
on the other end of the cash spectrum and running out of
money, BWB actually counts that extra 2 million toward your
Week Zero signings.
- This is the deadline to have a complete roster - you must
be able to fill all 26 required roster slots and all field
positions by this date. (What
happens if you don't?)
Week 1 Lineups - BWB Opening Day -
Due Sun 4/6/14 (What
happens if you don't set it?)
Deadline to receive a rebate for a cut player -
Week 15: 7/11/14
Deadline for Contract Extensions - Week 18: 7/31/14
Trading Deadline - Week 22: 8/27/14
Final Free Agent Signings - Week 24: 9/10/14 (Only
