It's not your ordinary Rotisserie game:
- You create a team of up to 40 players.
- You set your starting lineup - your
rotation - your bullpen.
- You mold your bench to fill in when
necessary.
- You build a solid, all-around team,
which goes farther in scoring our games than whether
you rack up the best numbers in the standard Roto categories.
- You develop a minor league system to fill
your team in years to come and maybe earn more cash for next
season.
- You manage a salary cap and weigh the risks
of multiyear contracts.
- You earn more money for each game you win
and the higher you place in the division.
- You compete in a 150-game season and shoot
for the playoffs.
- You may be the one team from your 4-team
division that advances to the championship round.
- You choose which players to bring back next
season.
- You play all year - Playoff results are posted
throughout October. We run a special all-Benchwarmer
tournament (the "Bash") for league champs in November.
Winter trading and player retention choices come in November
and December. You pick players in a Redistribution Draft
in December. And then spend January-March putting the
final touches on your roster in preparation for a brand new
season!

"It looks complicated!"
Well, if you study the scoring formula too
closely, it will make your head swim. But check out a
few of the sample box scores and see what you think.
The main thing to think about here is - you want to try to
build a team - including your batting order and your
pitching rotation - like you would if you had $50 million to spend
for real - basically the good players in real life translate
to good players in this game. To start off with, don't
try to over-analyze the formula - just build the best team
you can.

But how much does it cost?
$65
per team per season. For each
additional team you buy, there is another $20 discount off
the extra teams!. You can also join with friends to fill
an entire league (or conference, or division) and enjoy
significant savings. As incentive to try out
Benchwarmer Baseball, there's a first-time "rookie rate."

Prizes: Unlike some services and leagues you might
join with friends, there are no cash prizes. To add
that could mean an added level of stress and angst as money
is on the line and for some people perhaps the temptation
for collusion. Our hope is also to keep the cost as
low as possible. So why the cost in the first place?
We need to cover stat services, web costs, and a large
amount of human labor. Division winners get next
year's season for free, plus there are free bonus
teams provided for advancing further in the playoffs
In 21 years of operation, we have
an overall team retention record from one season to the next of
85%. Our team owners enjoy the experience
and you'll develop yearly rivalries among the same teams and
owners.
